Our statistics

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) produces an array of statistics providing a window on the state of the society and the economy across the United Kingdom.

Among the key statistics ONS is responsible for are:

  • the National Accounts
    • balance of payments
    • short-term output indicators
  • the census
  • labour market statistics - jobs and employment 
  • population and demography data including emigration and migration 
  • economic and social surveys
    • the Consumer Prices index (CPI) and the Retail Prices Index (RPI)
    • social and vital statistics including those on health and education 
    • employment, hours and earnings
  • regional and neighbourhood statistics
  • the analysis and reporting of social and economic data, including measuring of government activity
